Biography
Twenty-six years old Jeong-min Kim has won more than dozen competitions in his native South Korea, including Gold Medal at the Korea Mozart Orchestra Competition, the Seoul Music Concours, the Nanpa Music Concours, the Sunjung Music Concours, and the Ye-Jin Music Competition, among others.
Mr. Kim was also grand prize winner in the Hansei University Competition and the Han Eum Philharmonic Concours, prizes which led to numerous performances of the Chopin Piano Concerto No.1, all of which met with critical acclaim.
Known for his innately sensitive musicianship, Mr. Kim has given solo performances at such prestigious venues as Japanese Embassy in Seoul, the Sergei Babayan International Piano Academy, the gifted Kumbo Recital Series, and the Yamaha Pianist Series.
Mr. Kim's exceptional approach towards an Etude by Frédéric Chopin gained international recognition through the 8th Yamaha USASU International Piano Competition, as Mr. Kim was the recipient of the Yehuda Meir Memorial Award for the most outstanding artistic performance of an etude by Chopin.
In United States, Mr. Kim successfully finished his studies at the Juilliard Pre-College Division with the illustrious pedagogue Mr. Choong Mo Kang, and received both bachelor and master of music degree at The Juilliard School under the guidance of an accomplished pedagogue Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky and Mr. Hung-Kuan Chen.
